Welcome to the Macomb Orchard Trail!

The Macomb Orchard Trail is a non-motorized path that will provide users with a safe transportation and exercise route through central and northern Macomb County, Michigan. At a length of 23.5 miles it will be the largest hike/bike path in the County, and one of the largest in southeast Michigan. This 236 acre linear park will serve as an important connection between local communities and the surrounding area. Locally, it will connect people to parklands, downtowns, businesses, schools, residences, and open spaces. Regionally, it will provide a connection from St. Clair County to Oakland County, and on a state-wide basis, the trail system will ultimately span from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.

2008 Apple Blossom Run
It is hard to imagine an outdoor race when we are in the midst of these cold days. However, the more moderate temperatures of Spring are almost here.

The 3d Annual Apple Blossom run will take place Saturday, April 19th, 2008 Macomb Orchard Trail. All age groups are invited to participate. The 4.5 mile race will occur on the southern portion of the trail while the 1 mile fun run for children will start at the Glacier Club Golf Course and head south down the trail.

Trail Development
July 2006 will mark the two-year anniversary of the completion of the first six miles of the Macomb Orchard Trail. The first section has been a great success and a wonderful new addition to the many recreational opportunities in Macomb County and surrounding area. In October 2005, a new pocket park was opened along the trail, at West Road in Washington Township, thanks to the generous donation of Ms. Janice Ross. The park currently includes a picnic pavilion, benches and a parking lot with a bathroom facility.

The planning and design of the second and third phases of the Macomb Orchard Trail will be commencing this fall. The Macomb Orchard Trail Commission is currently working with Wade Trim Inc. to develop the engineering drawings for the development of these seventeen miles of trail and the renovation of seven historic bridges. Actual construction of the project is scheduled to begin in late summer of 2006 and completed in early spring of 2007.

We invite everyone to get out and enjoy the trail!
